About us


Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS) is the Shared Environmental Health and Licensing Service for all six Worcestershire District Councils, hosted by Bromsgrove District Council.

WRS is based at Wyre Forest District Council offices in Kidderminster but we operate across the county and for some service areas wider afield.

We are looking for two, permanent, full-time Senior Technical Officers to join our busy, forward-thinking service.


You will be part of our Planning & Environmental Enforcement team covering the enforcement work of environmental legislation including planning enforcement and enviro-crime.

You will need to have enthusiasm, a commitment to accuracy and good customer service.

You must have ability to work independently and have the confidence in using your own judgement and initiative whilst also working effectively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.


You will be expected to work remotely, onsite (across Worcestershire) and from our modern Offices at Wyre Forest House, Kidderminster, DY11 7WF.

Skills & experience

Skills you will need to succeed, include:

Considerable experience is required dealing with members of the public, to provide advice and information on legislative requirements related to this post and within a Regulatory Service.

This includes considerable knowledge of practices and procedures related to the duties of this post in order to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.


Carry out routine inspections of property, land and vehicles and to collect evidence and supporting information to enable enforcement decisions to be taken.


An ability to prepare, interpret and analyse reports and data sets and produce summary reports and advice for submission to a range of stakeholders.

An ability to understand and analyse complex problems and interpret and implement complex legislative provisions.

Ability to communicate to a variety of audiences and to negotiate to gain support on key issues.


Ability to organise oneself in the face of conflicting demands and priorities responding positively and appropriately in emergency situations with the ability to deal with situations involving conflict.

Ability to work under pressure and to meet multiple deadlines and performance targets.

Willing to appear as a witness and give evidence in Court when required.

Good oral and written skills to include report writing and presentation.


Additional information
A full diving license with access to a car for site visits is essential.

Ability to work outside normal office hours including at short notice in the event of an emergency.
