Senior Finance Officer


We have an exciting opportunity for an organized and experienced Senior Finance Officer to join the Finance Team at an organisation making a real difference in people's lives.

Hours:
Part-time, 21 hours per week


Salary:
F/T Equivalent £26,000 to £28,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

The role will cover all aspects within a finance function of a charity.

You will be responsible for the delivery of internal financial management systems and controls, and for maintaining accurate financial management records, including managing the process of producing draft management accounts to report to the Head of Finance.


The Senior Finance Officer will work with the Head of Finance on the development of new systems and procedures to keep pace with the changing shape of the organisation.

You will ensure the organisation has proper financial systems and controls in place to process.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Finance Officer will include:
*To ensure effective and accurate delivery of the payroll process liaising with the external payroll service to ensure prompt payment of salaries and submission of related payments and reports.
*To produce quarterly VAT returns including submission to HMRC.
*Ensure prompt banking of all monies received for the organisation, including donations and verify Bank Reconciliation with Finance Team.
*Ensure all invoices are raised in a timely fashion and that effective credit control procedures are in place.
*Ensure purchase invoices are processed for payment in a timely fashion by the Finance Team as appropriate. Support the Finance Team to secure verification of invoices as appropriate, running the payment process, dealing with queries, and monitoring payments and any special terms.
*Liaise with the Head of Finance to ensure the production of timely and accurate management accounts to enable the monitoring and analysis of financial performance and effective reporting to the CEO and Trustees.
*Support the Head of Finance with preparations for the end of year, audit, and budgeting process.
*Alert the Head of Finance to any financial issues or areas of concern and work to address them.

About You


Ideally, you will have proven experience in preparations for the end of year and audits, production of management accounts as well as bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Prior knowledge of charity sector finances would be advantageous. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well as a team member.

To succeed in the role of Senior Finance Officer, your key skills will include:
*GCSE Grades A-C / 9-4 or equivalent in English and Maths.
*Part or fully qualified accountant with AAT certifications or equivalent.
*Experience in a similar financial role.
*Proficient user of IT packages including Microsoft Office and Accountancy software.
*Ability to produce timely and accurate management accounts with supporting analysis that is clearly articulated.
*Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
*Ability to produce high quality work when working to tight and often competing deadlines, always ensuring attention to detail.
*Ability to explain complex issues clearly and succinctly.
