Burleigh college has an exciting opportunity for two talented individuals to join our Functional Skills Team as Maths and English tutors. We are Ofsted rated Good and are looking for high quality teaching for our learners.


As a Functional Skills Maths & English Tutor you will be responsible for the delivery of Functional Skills Entry level 1 to Level 2 to a caseload.


The role will involve:

  • Utilising appropriate Initial Assessment tools and interpreting the data in order to create a plan for your learner.
  • Using Diagnostic Assessments to determine what support your learner requires and support throughout.
  • Continually assess, monitor, review, evaluate and adjust your delivery to meet your learners needs.
  • Preparing and adapting teaching materials including handouts, Power points and assessment papers, to enable all learners to progress.

About you:


  • Must be a qualified Functional Skills Tutor and hold relevant qualifications (Functional skills level 2)
  • Teaching Qualification, Specialist /English Numeracy Teaching Qualification
  • Have experience delivering Functional Skills from Entry level to level 2 in Maths and/or English.
