We have an exciting new opportunity for a committed and people-focused individual to join our friendly and hardworking Bereavement Technical Team.

This new post has been created to provide essential supervision, leadership and support to a busy Bereavement Technical Team to meet the needs of our diverse bereavement community.


Primarily based, on a rotational basis, at the Bereavement Care Offices in North Cemetery, Strouden Avenue, Bournemouth BH8 9HX and Poole Crematorium, Grave Hill, Poole, BH19 7BQ you will report to the Bereavement Care Manager.

You will be responsible for leading and supervising our dedicated team of technical officers providing the necessary technical and legal expertise to ensure all operations are legally compliant and to provide a professional and supportive service to all our customers and stakeholders including funeral directors and faith/non-faith community groups.


You will work collaboratively as part of a team and with all users of the bereavement service ensuring all cremations and burials take place within the required statutory framework.


BCP Bereavement Care operate one of the top five busiest crematorium in the UK with approximately 3,500 cremations undertaken and 500 burials facilitated within our 9 cemeteries each year.


You will have attained NVQ Level 3 in Supervisory Management or have equivalent relevant experience and be willing to work towards attaining a pass in key modules of the ICCM Diploma including Cemetery Management, Crematorium Management and Cemetery & Crematorium Law.

You will have experience of working in a busy administrative and highly pressured office environment working to very tight and frequently changing priority deadlines.

You will have a good working knowledge of IT, possess effective communication skills both written and orally and be an effective team player.

A resilient individual, you will have the ability to deal with emotionally sensitive situations involving bereaved families.

You will have the ability to take an organised approach to your own workload and that of the Bereavement Technical Team overall.


You will be committed to achieving and maintaining standards of excellence ensuring a customer focussed approach, and willing to advocate service changes leading to improvements.


As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which is to be applicable for all employees.

We are in the process of establishing a timescale for implementation and colleagues joining us will be included in these changes.
