Senior Campaigns Officer**
Reports to: Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager

Location:
Remote (UK based) with regular access to London

Salary:
£33,307 per year (plus Inner London Weighting of £3,415)

Length of contract:37 Hours per week, 2 years fixed term contract

Main Purpose of Post

  • To be responsible for the strategic design and delivery of Women's Aid campaigns strategy, working closely with other teams such as Media, Brand and Relationships and Fundraising to ensure a strong and engaged campaigner base for the organisation.
  • To coordinate Women's Aid's activity across teams during key moments such International Women's Day and 16 Days of Activism, to ensure consistency of message and measurable impact.
  • To grow our campaigner base, conducting campaign evaluation and monitoring; and developing our knowledge around campaigning techniques and tools.
  • To identify new opportunities for digital and political influencing campaigns and reaching new audiences.
  • To ensure that Women's Aid continues to innovate and play a leading role in campaigning in the VAWG/domestic abuse sector.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Campaigns

  • To be the lead for campaigning activity within the External Affairs team, identifying key opportunities and innovative techniques to engage political and public audiences on key areas of Women's Aid policy and influencing priorities.
  • To develop and deliver Women's Aid's campaigns, including its current 'Deserve to Be Heard' campaign on mental health and trauma in collaboration with our member services and survivors of domestic abuse; and upcoming campaigning activity in the lead up to the UK General Election 202
  • To develop and deliver a twoyear strategy for the External Affairs' team's campaigning work, working closely with public affairs colleagues, Fundraising and the Media, Brand and Relationships team.
  • To work with colleagues to ensure Women's Aid campaigning takes an intersectional approach and centres the most marginalised voices.
  • To work with colleagues to support the research and development of future campaigns, including through organising focus groups, interviews and other forms of participation.
  • To work closely with the Senior Survivor Engagement Coordinator to ensure Women's Aid campaigns are informed by survivor representatives of the Experts by Experience network, and engage directly with that group through meetings and focus groups.
  • To oversee the maintenance and growth of Women's Aid's grassroots Campaign Champions network ensuring that queries are responded to, and engaging members of the network to support our campaigning work.
  • To support communications work around the General Election campaign including by contributing to reports, blogs, briefings, articles, copy for newsletters, Women's Aid website, consultation responses and other campaigns materials.
  • To oversee the use of Impact Stack as a key campaigning platform, managing the relationship with the supplier and maximising its use for the benefit of campaigning activity.
  • To lead on planning and creative innovation for future Women's Aid campaigns.
  • To coordinate Women's Aid crossorganisational activity in relation to key moments such as International Women's Day and 16 Days of Activism, taking a project management approach across teams to ensure strategic planning, alignment of messaging and robust evaluation.
  • To oversee the delivery of capacitybuilding activity and webinars for Women's Aid campaigners, supporting them to upskill in campaigning.
  • To lead with the monitoring and evaluation on the activities and impact of Women's Aid campaigns, and collate reports for funders where necessary.
  • To oversee the budget for campaigning activity, working closely with the Head of External Affairs and Public Affairs Manager.
  • To support the Public Affairs Manager and Head of External Affairs on other related work on campaigns and public affairs, as required.

General responsibilities

  • To maintain clear and adequate records of work done and to produce reports on work programmes and activities as required by management.
  • To represent Women's Aid at a senior level at relevant external meetings and events, as required.
  • To regularly give advice to members of the Senior and Executive Leadership team regarding campaigning priorities and activity.
  • To contribute to team meetings and organisational priorities, and to participate in supervision and appraisal meetings.
  • To take direction on projects and priorities from your line manager, this may vary from time to time.
  • To carry administrative tasks necessary to comply with the job description.
  • To assist in the organisation of conferences or events organised by Women's Aid, if required.
  • To abide by all organisational policies, codes of conduct
