Geographical Area:
Wiltshire, Semington office and community based.


Hours of Work:
Full and Part Time Opportunities Available


Pay Scale:
£28,000. FTE

Purpose of the Post


The Carer Friendly community's worker role is to raise awareness and understanding of the impact that caring has on individuals.

These individuals may be caring for a loved one, a family member, a neighbour or a friend who couldn't support themselves without additional help.

This could be anything from thinking about their financial support, right through to their physical and emotional support.


Key duties and responsibilities

  • Raise awareness in the Wiltshire community through engaging with:
  • Local and county wide retailers
  • Business
  • Local clubs e.g., leisure, specific interest groups
  • Health care organisations including GP's, pharmacies, community and acute hospitals etc.
  • Religious and faithbased organisations.
  • Provide carer awareness talks with the purpose of introducing the Carer Friendly toolkit.
  • Deliver community based and online support groups, ensuring carers are referred to the right support internally and externally.
  • Oversee the delivery and promotion of the GP accreditation program.
- be organised and able to work to a schedule of appointments.
- produce information for publications, leaflets, and web pages including our carer newsletters.
- liaise with other internal departments and external organisations specifically with the communities and fundraising team.
- keep up to date with appropriate legislation and policies that affect carers rights.

  • Keep accurate records, write reports and compile statistics on cases covered and services provided.
- provide training or talks to internal staff or external organisations.

  • Manage a small group of Carer community volunteers.
  • Provide information on connections made to the services team for the purpose of communicating to carers.
  • Provide support to carers during the discharge of a loved on from hospital and/or care

General Requirements

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Possess the essential skills as detailed in the person specification.

  • Maintain a confidential, sensitive, and discrete approach to personal, sensitive and organisational information.

  • To work collaboratively as a member of a small team including volunteers and to attend and actively contribute to team meetings, organisational events and activities.
  • Actively identify own training needs and personal development, and to participate in training sessions when required
  • A flexible approach is required for this role, and you may be asked to undertake other duties from time to time as determined by your line manager and in keeping with the purpose of the post and after consultation with the post holder


Working hours are typically 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, although advice sessions are sometimes offered in the evenings and at weekends.

The job description will be reviewed regularly including at annual appraisals and may be changed in the light of the needs of the organisation and following consultation with the post-holder.
