We are seeking a talented Contract Officer to join us to support the Commercial & Contract Team Manager with the contractual interface with one or more of the Asset Operations' contractors, within our Electricity Transmission business.


The role holder will manage the cost assurance process to demonstrate value for money, ensure contract compliance and work collaboratively with the Contractors and National Grid to achieve the safe and cost-effective delivery of the capital plan.


As part of our Hybrid working model, we'd hope to see you in any of our UK office sites 2-3 days per week and you're welcome to come in more often.

Key Accountabilities
Support management to ensure commercial, contract and financial processes and procedures are adhered to, and contract compliance through effective contract management activities

Develop cost reduction and improvement plans with the contracting partners, to deliver outperformance against the regulatory agreement

Support the development of appropriate reporting structure to capture cost benefit / efficiencies and ensure consistency of reporting of these across the contract function


Assure and benchmark costs of individual schemes, compensation events and risk draw downs; ensuring timely authorisations and control of risk allowances.

Facilitate the cost review process, by chairing meetings, reviewing papers, managing and evaluating cost reports

Communicate cost and value analysis internally and externally

Identify and implement opportunities to further develop the suite of benchmarking tools to support the demonstration of value for money

Provide contract support, advice, guidance and contract management training to Asset Operations teams and the Cost Assurance Representatives as required and where appropriate the Contracting Partners


About You:


Interpersonal, Supervisory or Management

  • A stakeholdercentric approach to delivering a highquality output
  • Proficient understanding and demonstrable working knowledge of business processes and governance.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in cross functional teams
  • Suberp stakeholder management skills

Technical or Specialist

  • Experience of working in Contract Management role and / or working with NEC terms and conditions
  • Knowledge of successful multiple project delivery
  • Excellentcommercial acumen, including procurement and supply chain experience / knowledge
  • Able to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment and problem solving
  • Ability to bring creative and innovative new approaches to the business
  • Understanding of RIIO mechanisms and the way that National Grid delivers revenue under the regulatory framework (nice to have)
