We are looking for a highly motivated Domestic Assistant


The post holder will provide a high-quality, domestic service to the Hospital, working either individually or as part of a team ensuring a clean and safe environment is maintained for patient staff and visitors.

"Experience desirable but not essential as full training will be given".

Following agreed work schedules methods and procedures in accordance with the national standards of cleanliness.

This post is based at Clay Cross Hospital.

However, the post holder will be required to have a flexible approach and be prepared to work on other sites, should service demands dictate.

Working along side highly skilled team of seven domestics, following DCHS policies and procedures.


Duties will include cleaning of clinical and none clinical areas, this will also include kitchen and sanitary areas following cleaning schedules under the supervision of the domestic supervisor.

During the pandemic response we have led the implementation of public vaccination centres in collaboration with partners across health and social care.

You will need to register if you do not already have an account

  • Provide an efficient, high quality domestic service within clinical and nonclinical areas including cleaning of sanitaryware, treatment rooms, waiting areas, office areas, kitchen areas, mirrors, internal glass, high and low dusting, washing of tiled services and paintwork, etc
  • Clean crockery, cutlery, utensils, etc, either manually or through wardbased dishwashers (as per work schedule)
  • Follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas though post holders are required to have a flexible approach to a daily routine and can organise and prioritise their own day to day work
  • Escalate issues appropriately and via correct escalation process
  • Ensure all incidents are raised and recorded accurately and within required timeframes and via appropriate system, ie Datix
  • Curtain changing (as per work schedule)
  • Economic and safe use of cleaning agents following manufacturers recommended instructions
  • Care and safe use of mechanical equipment, eg floor scrubbers, etc
  • Replenish disposable items, eg hand towels, toilet rolls, soap, etc and ensure correct storage of all cleaning agents and equipment
  • Disposal of waste in accordance with the Trust Waste Policy
  • Accurate completion of all required documentation to support specific service processes, eg Barrier or Terminal cleans
  • Accurate completion of own timesheet
  • Respond to supervisory instruction regarding required rectifications following service associated audits
  • Comply with Infection Control guidelines and policy including colour coding system.
