Job summary:


As the UK's regulator for the energy industry, Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply.


As Ofgem's Senior Digital Business Partner, you will be required to influence senior stakeholders throughout the organisation, coordinate project portfolios to achieve the business objectives for Ofgem and individual directorates.

The post holder will have significant knowledge and expertise to be able to provide commercial guidance on best practice delivery, whilst being able to translate complicated business needs into deliverable commercial technology outcomes.


You will be responsible for driving performance of key deliverables whilst ensuring robust governance and commercial management practices are in place.


The successful applicant will need strategic organisational knowledge to work independently and prioritise projects, developing a roadmap of requirements with robust project plans and timelines for delivery.

They will have a deep and demonstrated expertise in technology, having operated at a strategic level in complex technology environments leading on portfolios, projects, implementation of new technology, and commercial best practice at a fast-moving pace


The role will act as a main point of contact for teams within Ofgem, providing leadership in technology strategies and development.

The post holder will be an experienced and highly credible individual, capable of influencing and with strong negotiation skills in order to drive quality outcomes for the organisation.


The post holder will be required to drive strategic development of our third-party commercial expenditure, including owning the relationship and developing stakeholder management strategies for all core contracts and vendors within the Digital organisation at Ofgem.

This will involve managing performance against robust contractual deliverables to ensure service and objective deliverables, driving innovation and value-for-money from a complex and evolving portfolio.


They will have a strong working knowledge of the Legal, Contractual and Regulatory environment governing commercial contracts within the UK, and the skills to operate effectively and deliver strong outcomes on behalf of the organisation.


You will have excellent Stakeholder Management, Communication and Influencing skills, developed through an established career working with executive leadership teams alongside colleagues of all levels and responsibilities.

You will be able to develop and implement communication strategies based upon recognised methodologies, ensuring stakeholders are managed in the most appropriate manner and kept informed of key developments.

Using these skills, you will influence and lead decisions to deliver best practice, value and quality and ensure investments consistently delivery high quality outcomes.


The post holder will have a comprehensive knowledge of digital environments and information technology and be capable and confident of delivering excellence within this space.

You will have detailed experience working with, support and implementing a range of technologies and will be a keen exponent of continued professional development to ensure your knowledgebase remains consistently up to date.


The successful applicant will have experience of producing project documentation and business strategies for a senior audience, including formal business cases, project initiation documents and highlight reports.

You will be expected to produce these in written format and be able to present them to an executive audience when appropriate to do so.


Ideally the post holder will have experience working within the Public Contract Regulations, or have sufficient knowledge to operate confidently and lead strategic discussions (with guidance from our Procurement function).
