We are looking for an experienced and ambitious finance leader to join us as our Assistant Chief Financial Officer - Pensions, Procurement and Projects.

In this role, you will oversee the performance of the Pensions service and the Procurement services and assist both the Director of Finance and the Corporate Director for Resources in fostering the council's desired culture and objectives.


Salary up to £97,650 per annum.

About the role:


Working closely with Members and Corporate Management, you will be an active member of the Finance senior leadership team with collective responsibility for the managerial leadership of the function.


Your key areas of focus will include:

  • Leading the Pensions function, acting as the key liaison point for Procurement and leading the Council role for companies
  • Supporting the Director of Finance (S151 Officer) and as one of the Council's principal financial advisors providing advice and support to the Corporate Management Team
  • Responsibility for ensuring that the financial and procurement framework is adhered to and for the coordination of councilwide financial tasks
  • Balancing the Council's corporate interests with the local service needs ensuring compliance with all financial, statutory and constitutional requirements
  • Serving as the council's principal financial advisor on pensions and procurement
  • Leading on the pension administration provision for the council including pensions payroll, pensions investment and accounting
  • Providing specific technical advice and support to the council on all issues relating to the area of control
  • Responsibility for the deployment of the appropriate resources in the support of major corporate and service projects and initiatives
  • Agree and implement GDPR transparency requirements, including Privacy Notice, Subject Access Requests and Data Protection Impact Assessments
