WE'VE OPENED A BRAND NEW SERVICE IN GORSEINON


Want to make a real difference to someone's life? Want to join a brand new service? We have an exciting opportunity for a
Complex
Support Worker (Nights Only) to join a recently new built home in Gorseinon.


In this role, you will be expected to complete 3 nights (39 hours) a week at time and a quarter.

Please note that the shift is for Waking Nights, so you will be expected to work through the night. There are currently no sleep-in options.


We are currently supporting 2 people in Gorseinon, living in their own homes to live the life they want

Gentleman No1
This young man lives in Gorseinon in his own home. He is looking for people to support him at home and in the community. He likes playing Music, using his iPad, Trampoling, Parks, Disney films, Food and walking.

He loves going to a Day Centre where he has the opportunity to meet his friends, socialise and work.


He is a young, energetic and outgoing man, Staff working with him use the Active Support model to ensure he is as independent as possible and has the opportunity to develop his skills and learn new ones.


He is an individual who is very easy going and relaxed, His staff are very important to him and he forms relationships and trust with staff easily which enables him to be comfortable and have the quality of life he deserves.


Gentleman No2
This young man lives in Gorseinon in his own home. He is looking for people to support him at home and in the community.

He likes watching wrestling and Swansea football team, he is a very active young man and loves being out and a presence in his local community.

He loves being around people and talking about his certificates.

His appearance is very important to him and likes to be dressed nice and smelling nice, it is very important to him that he chats to new people as he loves to make friends and form relationships.


He needs his staff to be supportive and attentive due to his Epilepsy currently not being under control but there will be full training provided for staff.

Using the Active Support model, staff support him to complete house hold tasks. You will need to be patient with this. He has outcomes he is working towards, outcomes based on his best life. With the help from his family and paid support he will work towards achieving these and more.

mirus is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, working in partnership with the people they support, their families and other partners, to deliver high quality, person-centred support services for people with a disability. We have been supporting people in Wales for over 35 years and currently support over 350 people in ten different local authority areas.


What will you be doing?

  • You'll empower people to try new activities, continue their existing hobbies and improve their skills. Implementing and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life.
  • As a Support Worker you will develop, implement, and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life.
  • You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance.
  • As a Support worker we will support you in studying towards your QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care, which is completely funded by mirus.
  • You will work alongside other professionals such as care managers, community nurses and occupational therapists to deliver high quality support.
