An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as 2nd ETO.

The 2nd Electro-Technical Officer assists the 1st Electro-Technical Officer to oversee, maintain and ensure all the Electrical equipment onboard is operating effectively.

They carry out the repair and maintenance of both High and Low voltage electrical equipment and facilities in the Engine Room, on the Bridge and in all Hotel Areas.

They complete maintenance and repair tasks assigned to them, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security and environmental compliance are met.

Main Responsibilities

The management of the electrical subdepartment.
The safe and efficient repair, maintenance, testing and operation of all electrical and electronic equipment on board (with the exception of those under the control of the Computer Systems Officer)
The daytoday discipline and control of electrical staff under their direct supervision.
Additional Duties
Navigation, electronics and automation systems including but not limited to:
Telephone system
Public address system
UHF/VHF radio system
Fire alarm system
Ensure that planned and unplanned maintenance assigned to their discipline is conducted and reported.
Attend passenger social events as directed by the Head of Department.
Partake in inspections, trainings and meetings as directed by the Head of Department.
Ensure direct reports are line managed effectively in accordance with appraisal policies
Ensure accessibility to direct reports and support individual's needs, sourcing advice and reporting matters of a personal nature confidentially to the Head of Department where necessary.
Other shipboard tasks pertaining to departmental operations as directed by Head of Department
Attending trainings and office visits where required
Required: STCW ETO CoC
Reg. III/6 High Voltage Certification
STCW ENEM
GMDSS Maintenance Certification
Very strong organisational skills and able to execute operational imperatives in a swift and demanding environment
All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position
Good command of the English Language
Desirable: Kongsberg automation systems experience Podded drive experience
