Workshop Controller
Ridleys Coaches Ltd is a large family-owned coach provider based in Warwick operating throughout the UK & Europe. We are currently seeking a workshop controller to join our maintenance team.


The Role:

You will work alongside our workshop manager with the day to day running of the workshop. To control the workshop operations and resources in an effective, profitable, efficient, safe, and friendly manner. You will ensure work is prioritised, scheduled, and allocated to make sure targets and deadlines are met. You will ensure every aspect of our vehicles meet and exceed strict industry standards.


Responsibilities:


  • Working in a fully equipped workshop maintaining the company's fleet of modern vehicles on a rolling service schedule in line with the DVSA standards and practices.
  • Carrying out routine servicing and repairs
  • Preparing vehicles for annual test
  • Using the latest diagnostic equipment to diagnose faults and specifying the correct method of repair
  • Completing all activities using the company's real time electronic vehicle maintenance system
  • Ad hoc projects
  • Complying with all relevant engineering SOPs and VOSA testing requirements
  • You will be required to operate an out of hours phone to provide first line support for emergency breakdowns within the UK and Europe outside of office hours, this is on a rotation schedule between the whole engineering team.
  • Actioning repairs to roadside breakdowns
  • Ordering parts from suppliers and organising delivery

Key requirements:


  • You will ideally be apprentice trained and be a fully qualified HGV/PCV mechanics with either City & Guilds or NVQ level 2 or 3 in heavy vehicle mechanics maintenance & repair or equivalent
  • Relevant background experience maintaining commercial vehicles such as coaches, buses, LGV and HGV working with diesel engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, power trains and electrics
  • Knowledge/experience of leading a team
  • An understanding of Operators License Laws and Regulations
  • Ideally a full knowledge of VOSA requirements and MOT testers manual
  • Knowledge of KPI's
  • You will ideally hold a full PCV license for breakdowns
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good Computer skills.
  • Work well as part of a Team and as an individual.
Competitive rates of pay negotiable depending on skill and experience.

Working hours offered are 10 hours Monday to Friday between 06:00 and 18:00 with a 1-hour lunch break. Shift times negotiable upon interview.
