Start:
ASAP (9 Month Contract)

£26.71 p/Hour

Our client:


Our client are one of the largest Housing Associations in the South East and are looking for a Service Charge Accountant to join their busy team on a temporary basis.


Main purpose of the role:


You will be constructing service charges for all residents whilst ensuring the are clear, transparent, accurate and sent in a timely manner.


You will work closely with colleagues in Finance to ensure the service charge accounts financial reporting is consistent across the business to assist on service charge complaints and disputes.


Main duties & responsibilities:


  • Ensuring the timely and accurate billing of all service charges
  • Construct service charges on all new developments ensuring that all charges are reasonable and recoverable
  • Ensure service charge policies and procedures comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and the financial regulations
  • Monitor discrepancies between estimated and actual costs taking corrective action where appropriate
  • Ensure that rent review processes are completed, including service charge calculation for all tenures
  • Preparation and management of the year end service charge audit
  • Liaison with other staff, partners, contractors, local authorities, statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure the efficient and effective management of service charges
  • To provide reports, statistical, performance and management information including forecasts as required

Desired person specification:


  • Experience of line management and / or relevant qualification
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Finance and accounting ability to interpret and analyse data, producing and presenting meaningful conclusions
  • Understanding of customer focus issues and commitment to involving customers in continuous service improvement
  • Demonstrate organisational skills and the ability to prioritise the workload of staff
