The Harmony Trust

The Board of Trustees wish to provide opportunities for a number of enthusiastic Peripatetic SEN Teaching Assistants to work in peripatetic posts within the Derby hub.


We are currently seeking applicants to deploy to Cavendish Close Junior Academy both full and part time [16.25 hours] and Alvaston Junior Academy full time but future vacancies can be deployed to any Derby Academy in The Harmony Trust.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to become part of our Hub/Inclusion hub Service. The post holders will be deployed to academies within the Derby hub on medium
- or long-term placements.

A level 2 qualification is required for these posts

A passion and commitment to working with children with Special Educational Needs
Understanding of the barriers to learning that children with special educational needs may face and be able to use effective strategies to support them

  • Experience of developing learning resources that scaffold and support learning
  • Awareness of child development and knowledge of how children learn
  • Experience of Working with or caring for children of a relevant age to those in the school
  • Communication skills to liaise sensitively and effectively with parents and carers
  • NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Literacy and Numeracy skills equivalent to Level 1 of the National Qualification & Credit Framework
  • Completion of Department for Education Teaching Assistant Induction Programme (or to complete within first term)
