Devon Highways is currently looking to recruit Cyclical Works Scheduler to work on our Highway Maintenance contract in Devon.


As the Cyclical Works Scheduler you will be part of our cyclical team who are responsible for the delivery of highway maintenance works.

The role will require you to produce and maintain various programmes along with other administration tasks.


As the Cyclical Works Scheduler your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Regularly check the clients task ordering system, monitoring the status of task orders to populate the Cyclical Master Programme accordingly.
  • Work with the delivery teams and supply chain to create a Works Programme, ensuring that the programmes remain accurate and up to date.
  • Challenge the detail and timing of the works programmes where necessary with the delivery team, look to collaborate with other work programmes.
  • Escalate any programme delays to the Cyclical Manager and Agents to ensure we minimise any issues with the timing or quality of delivery.


  • Gully Cleaning Programme

  • Produce an annual gully cleaning programme by gang / parish which is updated on a weekly basis.


  • GEB Cleaning Programme

  • Produce an annual GEB cleaning programme by gang / parish which is updated on a weekly basis.


  • Rural Grass Programme

  • Produce a Rural grass 1st and 2nd cut programme by gang / Parish which is updated on a weekly basis.


  • Urban Grass Programme

  • Produce an urban grass with 14 cuts programme by gang / Parish which is updated on a weekly basis


  • Jetting Programme

  • Produce a jetting programme based on outstanding work requests and resources deployed.


  • Winter Cleaning Programme

  • Produce and Maintain winter cleaning (siding & ditching) programme based on orders collated.
  • Cattle grid cleaning programme, produce, permit, maintain permits & programme.
  • Managing drainage assets in kaarbontech setting cyclical target dates for all digital highway drainage & grass assets according to maintenance frequency / programme.
  • Defect programme (take control of seasonal defects to determine cyclical programmes) issue defects to gang / Close out in CPA.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:


  • Commercially aware.
  • Selfmanaging.
  • Proactive / Selfdriven.
  • Great team working skills and the ability to collaborate well with others including working in the spirit of mutual trust and cooperation fostering a one team approach to deliver for Devon Highways.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate well with internal and external teams.
  • Good IT skills with experience of using MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, CPA & Kaarbontech
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work accurately and consistently, processing large amounts of information and detail.
  • Confidence in own ability
