We are delighted to offer an apprenticeship in the Histopathology Administration Team for a Business Admin Apprentice where you will gain a recognised Level 3 Business Administration qualification.


The role will be assisting in producing reports and administrative tasks that are required for the smooth operation of this busy, friendly department.

This post will be both challenging and rewarding and is fundamental to the delivery of an efficient Pathology service that supports the hospital and primary care.


The Histopathology Department provides a wide range of tissue diagnoses to facilitate the appropriate outcome for patients attending the Trust, General Practice or private clinics.

This includes the diagnostic phase of cancer screening programmes.

The department's opening hours are 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, however, staff are contracted to work 5 out of 7 days


The accurate and timely input of medical information and data to produce high quality reports as dictated by the Consultant medical staff and Biomedical Scientists using the departmental information system.

Understands and learns medical terminology through an internal training programme.

Adheres to the sections Standard Operating Procedures.

Organises and distributes the materials required for Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings.

Provides a comprehensive secretarial service during periods of absence within the section.

Attending planned training days/sessions to complete qualification in Level 3 Business Administration.
