About the team


We are looking for an experienced, motivated senior content designer to help us deliver high-quality communications to maintain public confidence in exams and qualifications in England.


_ What will the post holder be doing?_


Do you have experience of communicating with different audiences? Do you have a sound understanding of how to write for digital audiences and the confidence to champion the user to colleagues? And can you manage a small, busy team to deliver complex messaging in accessible formats? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.


It is based within a small and friendly communications team which includes media and campaigns, social media, publications and internal communications.

You will act as a point of best practice in how to maximise the impact of communications on GOV.UK.


You'll be working to the high standards set out by the Government Communication Service (GCS), whilst abiding by Government Digital Service (GDS) principles.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead on building strong relationships between the team and others in Ofqual to ensure consistent quality of content and adoption of best practice. Provide expert communications advice to colleagues at all levels, including the executive team.
  • Influence and constructively challenge the executive team and senior colleagues in order to produce communications outputs which are actionable, measurable and meet the needs of the target audience.
  • Manage relationships with corresponding teams in other government departments to ensure Ofqual is always following current bestpractice and making the most effective use of its communications channels.
  • Responsible for ensuring that content produced is usercentred and meets Ofqual and GDS design, content and style standards.
  • Lead your team to produce innovative and effective content video, animation, audio, graphic design and web pages to convey Ofqual's key messages and strategic goals.

  • Graduatelevel education (Level 6 qualification) or equivalent industry experience
