An exciting opportunity for a Waiting List Co-ordinator has arisen within General Surgery, we have roles available at the LRI & GH, however cross-site cover will be required depending on service needsWe're looking for capable and adaptive individuals to join our friendly team in this dynamic, interesting and varied role. You would work closely with our clinical colleagues in arranging patients admission for their surgical procedures.
To make a success of this role you would need to be a well organised and a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills who enjoys working as part of a team.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring effective co-ordination of all elective admissions, waiting lists and admission services within the service in line with National Policy and locally agreed guidelines.
Specifically, the post holder will ensure that departmental systems and Directorate wide working practices involving the management of elective admissions keep pace with organisational development activities.
To implement and be responsible for setting up, maintaining and monitoring the waiting list ensuring that suspensions, cancellations and DNA's are recorded and dealt with according to the UHL Patient Access Policy

- To ensure patient admission details are arranged in conjunction with agreed booking procedures, and patients informed by post or telephone.
- To ensure any cancellations are replaced as agreed with Consultants and inform theatres and wards etc.
- Daily responsibility for making preassessment clinic appointments ensuring the completion of the appointment outcome within 24 hours of the clinic.
- To schedule theatre lists as delegated by Consultant teams.
- To ensure that any special equipment/requirements (eg ITU/HDU, foreign case notes, Interpreters, scans, xray's and prosthesis), are arranged for admission.
- To liaise with ward staff/managers and patients on day of admission to ensure patients are informed of bed availability or cancellation/new date of admission.
- To be responsible for producing and circulating weekly admission lists detailing the expected admission to the Wards, Theatres, Junior Medical Staff, etc.
- To liaise with Consultants regarding order of daily operating lists and to produce and circulate to theatre staff, wards etc.
- To maintain weekly data collection of reports on patient cancellations ensuring new dates of admission are allocated.
- Identify and collect PCT information to inform the contracting process.
- Undertake the waiting list validation programme ensuring accurate and early identification of potential long waiters in line with UHL Policy.
- Run off preadmission no outcome report to ensure all patients were admitted and operated on as expected.
- To be responsible for ensuring that the administrative procedure for admitting patients continues during periods of sickness and annual leave.
- To provide cover for all Waiting List offices within the surgical directorate, during times of absence e.g. holiday/sickness.
