Applications are invited for the post of Post CCT Special Interest Fellow. This post is available for a period of 12 months initially with the option to extend by mutual agreement. We expect to advertise new consultant posts in the next 12 months.

Main duties of the job


The post will involve working on both the Nottingham City Campus and Queen's Medical Centre Campus and there is a resident on call rota.

Applicants should have MRCOG and be CCT holders.

Working for our organisation

The Maternity and Gynaecology department includes all hospital and community based
obstetrics, gynaecology and midwifery services. 44 consultants contribute to our obstetrics
and gynaecology service, of which 18 are obstetric consultants, 18 gynaecologists, and 8
combined obstetrician and gynaecologists.
The hospital based services are split between the City hospital and Queen's Medical Centre
sites. Both have a labour suite which is associated with a level 3 Neonatal Unit, dedicated
obstetric anaesthetic service, and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services. There is a 3
tier junior doctor 24 hour presence. Our fetal medicine centre accepts regional referrals, and
is delivered across the two sites. There is a dedicated maternal medicine service, with multiprofessional clinics including obstetric haematology, renal, and medical. There is a strong
research presence in the department, with Nottingham contributing to, and leading, national
and international clinical trials.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be working in all areas of obstetrics and gynaecology including general ANC,
general gynaecology clinics, labour ward, assessment areas and theatres. This will be
mostly at senior registrar level but you will also be covering some sessions at consultant
level.
You will be encouraged to consolidate and further develop skills in your area of special
interest. ATSMs are available in the areas of fetal medicine, maternal medicine, labour ward,
advanced antenatal practice, oncology, colposcopy, vulval disease, urogynaecology &
vaginal surgery, benign abdominal surgery, & medical education. This needs prior
discussion with the Head of Services, RCOG College Tutors and ATSM director of the
region before registering with RCOG.
On call duties will be at senior registrar level/Tier 3 (1 in 9). There are 2 tiers of registrars out
of hours. It is a requirement for this post that you participate in the out of hours resident rota.

Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • Certificate of Completion of Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Membership of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • GMC Full Registration with License to Practice
Desirable criteria

  • Advanced Labour ward practice ATSM
  • Distinction, prizes or honours during postgraduate training period
Other

Essential criteria

  • Ability to participate in resident out of hours rota
  • Motivated and able to work unsupervised as well as within a small team under appropriate guidance
  • Evidence of understanding of the importance of team work & ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
