Founded in 2009, SBC creates and delivers short term residential courses for international students aged 8-17 years old in partnership with respected boarding schools and Colleges at the University of Oxford.

HR Coordinator

The Role
The HR Coordinator will lead on the onboarding of our temporary roles. We are looking for a highly organised, self-motivated person to fulfil the role who is also an excellent communicator.

The role offers a real opportunity to develop and grow with the company and therefore somebody with a real passion for HR is a must.

You will be working with the Staff Experience Manager and Recruitment Manager to ensure we provide an excellent experience for our temporary members of staff.


Overview of responsibilities (this is not an exhaustive list):


Main Duties:


  • Build rapport with temporary employees from the point of job offer through to them leaving their employment with SBC
  • Be a point of contact for temporary staff provide friendly and informative information and answer any queries promptly and professionally
  • Manage E Ploy system, train other members of the SE/ recruitment team and be a point of contact within SBC
  • Create pre arrival documentation for staff members
  • Be responsible for documentation including preemployment checks; updating and maintaining relevant HR systems
  • Full onboarding process such as
- references, DBS, contracts, and ID checks

  • Keep staff records uptodate
  • Sourcing and use existing data to produce reports to enable informed decisions regarding recruitment
  • Payroll in the summer and over Easter for temporary staff
  • Prepare staff information for each site
  • Be a point of contact for staff and managers throughout the summer/Easter to assist with any HR query they may have
  • Design and collate staff feedback throughout the summer/Easter
  • Returner Club work with Staff Experience Manager and Recruitment Manager to build and grow our CPD opportunities for returning members of staff

Additional Duties

  • Assist with reviewing and amending job descriptions
  • Organise and conduct interviews
  • Day to day planning and execution of events, recruitment campaigns and driving for results

The HR Coordinator:


  • Pro active and ability to manage own work load
  • Have a passion to work and develop in HR
  • Ability to build rapport with staff members
  • Strong administration skills with an advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential in this role
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Must possess the highest level of professionalism, integrity and confidentially
  • Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent level of customer service
  • Team player who recognises the importance of collaborative working
  • Desirable to have a CIPD level 3 HR qualification or interest in obtaining one in the future

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9-5.

Due to the nature of the business during the summer period when our courses are running you will be required to work 6 days per week.

These additional hours will be given as time in lieu.

  • Any gaps in your CV will be enquired about and must be explained satisfactorily.
  • We will require the professional contact details of two recent and relevant referees who we will contact
  • You will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously called a Criminal Records Bureau check), or equivalent if living outside the UK, and you will be asked to sign the Children's Act 1989 declaration safeguarding the welfare of children, and state that you have no known reason why you cannot work with children
  • Official identification and relevant certificates will be required for our records
