Full Time - 37 hours per week

Band - starting salary £32,332 with annual, incremental progression up to £33,966


We are seeking to appoint a SENCO, who would ensure a strong and high quality support is in place for high needs learners including those learners with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP).

High needs learners in Pre-Degree are supported to engage within the full time education provided within Pre-Degree. You will work closely as part of the Pre-Degree team and as part of a highly experienced group of student support professionals under the line management of Arts University Head of Student Support

About you:


  • You will have experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those that require additional support in
  • Experienced in leading, managing and supporting a team
  • A dynamic individual with the ability to take innovative approach to workplace tasks, who is excited by the idea of leading and contributing to the development in an institution where everybody's voice is heard and valued

About the role:


  • Manage a team of Specialist Student Support Workers, coordinating and taking responsibility for the specialist provision for students that have an identified learning need or require additional support
  • To take joint responsibility and work in partnership with Pre-Degree Safeguarding Lead, for the implementation of the University's Safeguarding Policy in Arts University Plymouth's Pre-Degree & Sixth Form provision
  • To take the University lead as Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and ensure all students with additional needs are supported effectively
  • Assist in the coordination and monitoring of initial assessments and development of students identified as requiring additional support
