Bradford district's year of culture is set to deliver more than 1,000 new performances and events including 365 artist commissions, a series of major arts festivals and major national and international collaborations.

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative technologist to join the team.

Repotting to the Executive Producer, you'll lead on diversifying and broadening opportunities between creative, digital and technology driven industries to generate exciting programme for Bradford 2025.

The role will support the programming team and external creative partners to confidently engage with creative technologies in programming and delivery, and collaborate with the Audiences Team to consider innovative and surprising use of digital platforms as a way of reaching people online.

The role will also identify, support and lead on any capacity building and training programmes to incorporate digital innovation and learning locally and regionally.

You'll manage an Assistant Creative Technologist so previous management experience is needed.


Key Responsibilities
Support and enable the digital and technical development across the programme including:

Programme

  • Collaborate with the Producing, Engagement and Audiences Teams to consider technological innovation across programming and audience experience.
  • Lead on the delivery of programmes, events and activities that are digitally driven.
  • Work closely with project teams to address digital access and inclusion within the creative programme.
  • Build partnerships and relationships beyond cultural industries to generate projects that encourage interdisciplinary working.
  • Consider nonphysical and blended programming opportunities that engage audiences in culture and ideas that are rooted in Bradford 2025's core programming.
  • Engage and collaborate with the city's Higher and Further Educations Institutions to cocreate programmes that benefit the city's diverse population.
  • Develop delivery and feasibility plans that outline best practice approaches to research, development, prototyping and delivery.
  • Work with the Producing Team to effectively cost and scope digitally driven programming.
  • Develop technical solutions for programming and creative challenges.
  • Support partners and artists to research and develop the digital potential of their projects.
  • Work alongside the Executive Producers in negotiations, contracting and securing rights, licenses, permissions, IP and copyright as required in the delivery of key digital projects.
  • Monitor the digital footprint of the programme and champion digital solutions.

Skills, Talent and Capacity Building

  • Support colleagues to design and delivery a training and talent development programme that centres digital processes and creative technology for communities, artists, young people and cultural industries.
  • Share best practice and advice on utilising emerging technologies and act as an Advisor internally and externally.
  • Work to champion the potential of Creative Technology across Bradford and West Yorkshire cultural industries in partnership with leading creative technology companies locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Identify new technologies and communicate their potential with creative teams and across artist networks.

Finance and Income Generation

  • Work with the Head of Producing and Head of Development to develop and deliver income generation opportunities.
  • Manage delegated project budgets and monitor variances.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Development to identify and respond to fundraising opportunities.

Stakeholders

  • Support partnership development as required for the successful delivery of the creative technology and digital programme.
  • Represent Bradford 2025 by attending key events, delivering presentations, and taking part in speaking opportunities.
  • Work to satisfy the needs of multiple stakeholders, ensuring the best outcome for Bradford 2025, Bradford City Council, partners, sponsors and artists.

To be successful in this role you'll have:

  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for ideas and trends that shape digital culture in the UK and internationally.
  • Track record for working with emerging technologies and creating innovative experiences.
  • Active and engaged in national and international networks with leaders in digital art and creative technology.
  • Skills in web technologies, VR, AR, MR and World Building.
  • Knowledge and understanding of commonsbased peer production and opensource distribution.
  • Adept at learning and adapting new technologies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with a range of partners, stakeholders, and artists in the delivery of ambitious creative projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure to identify potential issues in creative and production processes and find creative solutions.
  • Selfmotivated and enthusiastic to learn new skills and ways of work
