The SDA have exciting opportunities for experienced systems integration engineering professionals to join our team at MOD Abbey Wood, Filton, Bristol.

You will integrate with teams of highly skilled professionals, getting up-close and personal with complexsubmarine systems to oversee engineering challenges unique to this industry, whilst supporting the Royal Navy and significantly contributing to project/programme success.


As senior member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to be an authority on combat systems delivery, verification, validation and acceptance, you will be responsible for coordinating these complex capabilities.

You will operate at senior level, engagingwith delivery projects across wider SDA teams to provide specialist insight.

By engaging with stakeholder across the combat system enterprise, you will help to ensure robust and coherent systems engineering approaches are developed and combat systems hardware/softwareis rolled out across the UK submarine flotilla.

Due to the nature of this work, working with stakeholders is critical to success.

You will therefore be required to uphold strong and productive relationships with senior SDA stakeholders and act as intelligent customer to UK industry partners within thenuclear enterprise.

About the role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage the delivery of all engineering aspects in area of responsibility as defined in the assignment specification or objectives including managing the acquisition safety aspects.
  • Manage the technical requirements for the acquisition lifecycle stage of one or more project, programme, service or system.
  • Monitor and implement any governance and assurance policies and procedures to ensure the 'safe & professional' status of the area led.
  • Lead on the development of requirements related to own area of specialism including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications.
  • Likely to hold Safety Responsibilities (SR) SDA Training will be provided.

Person specification

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Relevant Level 4 (HNC or higher) qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
