Are you an experienced financial professional with a passion for public sector finance?

We're currently supporting a prestigious organisation in Redcar to appoint a Finance Officer on a permanent basis.

As a Finance Officer, you will lead operational efforts and provide crucial support to Finance Managers and Accountants in driving financial decision-making processes.

Responsibilities:

Lead the operational delivery of key aspects of the Accountancy Team's annual work programme, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Deputise for Finance, contributing to the development and implementation of financial strategies, policies, and performance management processes.
Provide expert advice, analysis, and challenge on financial matters to inform effective decisionmaking across directorates.
Support the preparation of the organisations budgets, financial statements, and mediumterm financial plans, ensuring financial sustainability and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

Experience in public sector finance, including knowledge of financial reporting standards and accounting systems (e.g., Agresso).
Proven ability to solve complex financial problems and support mediumterm financial planning.
Strong communication, influencing, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and motivate stakeholders.
Membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or equivalent qualification.
Familiarity with changing financial legislation and initiatives impacting the public sector.

Up to £38,000 salary

Hybrid work model: 2-3 days on site
