Protocol Education are currently recruiting for Learning Mentors to work in Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) Schools in a variety of areas of Bristol.
The schools are Primry Schools, but also provide alternative provision for students with SEMH who are unable to access mainstream education for a variety of reasons.
Your role will include that of a Mentor/Support Worker, supporting their SEMH specific needs, well-being and academic abilities in a structured and adapted curriculum.
The majority of students have Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP's) which as a key support worker you will contribute and work together with the student to achieve their targets and offer purposeful, engaging, fun activities and lessons that progress each individual student and challenge them appropriately.
The schools are looking for someone with previous school experience or have worked in a supportive role, such as a support worker/youth worker/Teaching assistant/carer/intervention/tutor.
This role is ideal for someone seeing to gain valuable classroom experience prior to embarking on a teaching career, or a great opportunity for any graduates seeking a bold new career change.
- The Role;
- Working closely with the staff team, specifically teachers in order to contribute to student's EHCP's and individual needs academically and socially
- To support in managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they undertake their work and ensuring a constructive and positive environment is always enforced.
- Deescalating situations within the classroom in the correct way certifying safeguarding procedures are always adhered.
- Reporting any safeguarding concerns using the school's referral procedures and safeguarding policies.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
