Here at Shorterm Group we are currently assisting one of our long-term clients with a contract vacancy that they have available.

They are looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer to help deliver their test campaign and work alongside their current team.

The role is available for 37 hours a week but overtime is available and extra hours may be required if business needs require.

The role is "Days and Nights", although, they are open to considering people who are unable to do nights.

It is initially a 3 month contract running until the end of March with a high chance of being extended through to July 2023.


Responsibilities within the role are:

  • Review and understand Test Requirement documentation.
  • Review and understand the product, its operation and key features.
  • Work closely with Engineering Team to ensure Design Intent of testing is achieved.
  • Prepare and commission test rigs.
  • Prepare test equipment for offsite tests (Vibration, Salt Fog, Sand and Dust, etc).
  • Run internal Test Rigs via LabVIEW interface.
  • Support and deliver external tests.
  • Document test results via test reports. Updated daily throughout test campaign.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks and operations.
  • A demonstrable background in the delivery of test campaigns (DO160 desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with third party service providers (eg Outsourced testing) in a development environment.
  • Experience of LabVIEW and other data acquisition products.
  • Understanding of instrumentation.
  • Understanding/Awareness of Aerospace procedures for hydraulic cleanliness.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective written and verbal communication to peers and managers.
  • Diligent, reliable, responsible.
