Customs Clerk

Due to expansion, they are currently looking to appointan experienced Customs Clerks to join their team.


Vacancy Summary
This role is to ensure the completion of Import and Export Customs entries to a very high standard.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and submit full manual Customs entries.
  • Process automated Customs entries.
  • To liaise with clients in relation to documentation.
  • To respond to any clients in a timely and professional manner.
  • Invoice jobs in a timely manner.
  • Corresponding with HMRC where required.
  • Close liaison with Customs Product Manager.
  • Working with other internal departments on Customs entries.

Person Specification:


  • Knowledge of HMRC Tariff and Procedures.
  • Knowledge of HMRC and Port Inventory Systems (CHIEF, Destin8, etc).
  • Experience of CargoWise is desirable.
  • Strong experience with Customs Clearance
  • Import and Export.
  • Knowledge of IPR, OPR, Home Use, Carnet, CFSP is desirable.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to converse with clients, suppliers, agents, and colleagues in a professional and clear manner.
  • Committed and able to deal with challenging scenarios/tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility in the workplace.
  • Supportive of an evolving workplace.
  • Proactive in actions and communications.
  • Able to organise their workload and workspace.
  • Diligent and accurate.

The Package:


  • Hours: 9:00am 5:30pm (37 per week) Monday to Friday
  • Salary from £27,000 to £30,000 DOE
  • Annual leave: 31 days (prorated down if not working 5 days). Increases after 3 years' service by 1 day a year, up to a further 5 days.
