Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Retail Sales Assistant at our lighting showroom.

As a Retail Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in assisting customers, providing product knowledge, and driving sales.

Your exceptional interpersonal skills and passion for lighting design will contribute to creating a positive and memorable shopping experience for our customers.


Responsibilities:


Customer Assistance:
Greet customers as they enter the showroom and provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Assist customers in identifying their lighting needs and provide appropriate product recommendations based on their preferences and requirements.
Offer guidance on lighting design concepts, fixture styles, bulb types, and energy-efficient options.
Respond to customer inquiries and provide accurate information about product features, pricing, warranties, and installation procedures.
Assist customers in making purchasing decisions and closing sales effectively.

Product Knowledge:
Develop a deep understanding of our lighting product range, including various brands, styles, functionalities, and technical specifications.
Stay updated on industry trends and new lighting technologies to provide up-to-date information to customers.
Conduct research on customer inquiries and provide comprehensive answers or direct customers to relevant resources.

Showroom Maintenance:
Ensure the showroom is clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times.
Monitor inventory levels and restock products as needed to ensure a sufficient supply for customer demands.
Collaborate with the showroom manager to create attractive product displays and promotional materials.

Sales Targets and Performance:
Work towards achieving individual and team sales targets by actively engaging with customers and promoting products effectively.
Track personal sales performance and provide regular reports to the showroom manager.
Continuously seek opportunities to enhance sales techniques and product knowledge through training and professional development.

Customer Relationship Management:
Build strong relationships with customers by providing excellent service and follow-up.
Assist with handling customer complaints or concerns, resolving issues in a professional and timely manner.
Collect customer feedback and suggestions to improve the overall shopping experience.


Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in interior design or related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in retail sales, preferably in the lighting industry or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to actively listen and understand customer needs.
  • Excellent product knowledge and ability to explain technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Passion for lighting design and staying updated on industry trends.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and lighting installation is desirable.
  • Proficiency in using pointofsale (POS) systems and other retail software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary.

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time

Part-time hours: 40 per week


Salary:
£6.70-£8.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Manchester: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:


  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:


  • Retail sales: 1 year (preferred)
- customer service: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
