Could you provide integration and orientation support to refugees and asylum seekers in South Wales?
We are looking for a Project Coordinator to join our South Wales team.

Reporting to the Family Reunion Integration Service Manager, you will ensure the provision of high-quality, person-centred integration and orientation activities for refugees and asylum seekers in the South Wales area.

You'll primarily be responsible for the coordination and delivery of groupwork, life-skills and other sessions.

The focus will be on developing activities for women - but there will also be generic activities for all refugees.

You will work with a team of 2 Casework Co-ordinators, so there will be casework support in addition to the activities you will run.

The role involves working to a co-production model with our volunteers (all of whom have lived experience of being an asylum seeker or refugee) to ensure our activities are focused and relevant.

The aim is to help people feel more empowered and connected to their local community, so the post will involve building strong working relationships with local agencies and charities operating in the local area.

This is a rewarding role, requiring excellent advocacy, communication and groupwork skills, the ability to work sensitively and remain calm under pressure.

Meet the Wales team

The Wales Refugee Support service works closely with sector partners to support and meet the needs of asylum seekers and refugees in Cardiff and the surrounding area.

The service provides practical and emotional support to vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in the region, most of whom are experiencing destitution.

You will work closely alongside fellow casework and project coordinators as part of a diverse and dynamic operational team.

This role might be for you if...

  • You've got experience managing projects with vulnerable clients and you're able to effectively enable clients to realise their rights and entitlements.
  • You have an understanding of issues relating to female refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants.
  • You're able to support, manage and develop volunteers.
  • You're a team player; you're able to work as part of a team within what can sometimes be a highpressure environment. You will have experience of crossagency partnership and collaborative working too.
  • You're a great communicator with the ability to adapt your communication based on the audience.
  • You have experience providing sensitive, safe and empowering support to distressed females in vulnerable situations

Please Note:
This post is restricted to female applicants due to the nature of the role. This advert and post is covered by the Equality Act 2010, Part 1, Schedule 9.

This vacancy is open only to female applicants as the focus of this role will be to work with and support vulnerable female migrants.

The closing date for the role is 23.59 hours on Tuesday 2nd May 2023 with interviews expected shortly afterwards.
