Description
Deeside Compassion is the umbrella for various compassion ministries operated by Grace Church Family.

We are currently looking for part time assistance over the summer months to help cover staff holidays.

Background
Our church plant is based in Banchory, Aberdeenshire, and although small, we are an incredibly active church.

We already have 4 part time staff working for us, largely in our compassion ministries, which support hundreds of people in our local community each month.

The aim of the Deeside Compassion branch of our charity is to see the lives of those who are struggling because of disadvantage improved, not just through meeting their immediate needs but by creating pathways to independence.

We want to bring hope in desperate situations, helping people to overcome the underlying issues contributing to their situation.

As such we encourage clients of Deeside Compassion to engage with a range of wrap around services offered by the charity, including our innovative Restart Social Supermarket programme, CAP LifeSKills service, and various mental health and wellbeing groups.

The Role

The role of our Seasonal Compassion Support worker will be to provide general support and assistance to the Deeside Compassion branch of our charity, particularly in connection with the operation of Restart Social Supermarket.

Among other duties, the role will involve:

  • Taking deliveries at our Compassion Centre
  • Purchasing goods from local supermarkets
  • Assisting with the listing of social supermarket stocks
  • Packing & delivering grocery orders
  • Attending click & collect sessions
  • Handling enquiries relating to Deeside Compassion
The Compassion Support Worker will report to the Senior Pastor as their line manager on a regular basis. Participation in staff team meetings, training, and in other settings will also be expected.

- hold a personal faith in Jesus and willing to accept the statement of faith of the charity
- a desire to become an active part of the church family
- demonstrate genuine empathy for those who are struggling
- good organisational and logístical skills
- hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business purposes (mileage reimbursed at standard rates)
- general IT skills (enough to be able to use programmes such as office & online content)
- a successful PVG check

Other Expectations

As a church we expect that our employees will support our vision, work towards our priorities, and reflect the culture we are seeking to promote.

Our vision is to be a growing church family, which is passionately committed to pursuing God's presence, and to carrying His Kingdom into our community and beyond.

In order to fulfil our vision we currently have 3 main priorities as a church. Those are worship, compassion, and outreach.

The culture we want to see reflected in our staff and leaders is one where we:

  • honour God and others
- demonstrate servant leadership
- follow the lead of the Holy Spirit and the guidance of those in leadership
- give of our heart, time, energy, and resources to the work of the kingdom
