People Partner - Product & Engineering

The role


In this newly created People partner role, you'll be an integral part of creating and executing the world class people experience at PrimaryBid.

This is a true generalist role and will partner with senior leaders in our Product and Engineering function to create a culture where colleagues feel inspired to be their very best.

You'll be responsible for organisation development, business partnering, employee relations, coaching, and advising the management teams within Product and Engineering


Key responsibilities

  • You'll partner on strategic input, in a consultative way, to a specific business area, and will be responsible for driving the People and Talent strategy within it.
  • Embed our values into your business areas and always have them at the forefront of your mind.
  • Manage employee relations; this could include mitigating behaviour before it gets to the disciplinary stage for your area, and running hearings, investigations, and appeals.
  • Confidently explain employee relations processes and law to your managers.
  • You're responsible for ensuring your departmental area pay reviews are fair and following company level procedure.
  • Design and deliver employee training sessions and materials, always keeping in mind the right level of support required for employees at all levels.
  • Keep up to date on HR best practice and employment law change, and escalate to People Leadership as needed.
  • Deliver first
- and second-line advice and ensure confident, accurate, and timely responses to employee requests and queries.

  • Promote and maintain a strong high performance culture where people thrive and love coming to work.
  • Support managers and individuals to ensure that quarterly reviews and skills are delivered well, conducted regularly, and on time with proper documentation duly recorded.
  • Ensure and uphold all People compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Empower and upskill managers and leads to develop their teams, build capability, and identify talent.
  • Take the pulse of individuals and teams to create a positive culture, and work to unify early joiners with new team members.
  • Actively welcome new teammates and help them to settle into life at PrimaryBid.
  • Drive engagement initiatives, making sure action plans are in place to drive positive change.
  • Help teams develop strong diversity and inclusion practices.
  • Input into the People and Talent strategies and roadmap with the People leadership team.
  • Execute and promote all areas of the People strategy within Product and Engineering.
  • Coach and mentor senior, mid, and junior line managers through monthly 1:1 partnering meetings.
  • Ensure that all employeemanager conversations are delivered well, conducted regularly, and on time with proper documentation duly filed.
  • In depth input into succession planning for your business area, escalating to people leadership to be aware of.
  • You actively participate in interviewing for roles within your team. You're a competent interviewer, able to follow a structured hiring process and lead an interview.

Requirements:


  • You have significant experience of working with Product and Engineering teams, you understand what makes them work, and can easily spot gaps.
  • Excellent understanding of Product and Engineering practices and ways of working.
  • You're an expert in all areas of the employee life cycle, from org design and talent, to onboarding payroll and enablement right through to dismissal.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring managers and leaders as well as People team members.
  • Excellent people partnership and consulting skills.
  • You have input into and guide your partnering departments on their organisational design, looking ahead and leading the conversations on future headcount requirements, escalating to People leadership at the right time.
  • You identify skills gaps within departments as well as contingencies within and outside of that team.
  • You are able to influence and iterate on hiring processes, removing blockers.

What to expect from working for PrimaryBid


We operate a hybrid working approach, with most of our PrimaryBid team coming into the office between 2-4 days a week depending on their role.

Whoever takes on this role should be comfortable with coming into our Victoria office twice a week (days are flexible).

Standard working hours are 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday, but we're flexible with start/finish times
