We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Fees and Funding Co-ordinator to join our dynamic team within the newly formed Directorate of Student and Academic Services.


This role will be part of the Fees and Funding team, which sits under the wider Student Lifecycle team within Delivery Services.

The Fees and Funding team covers student funding and fee management, closely working with external bodies such as the Student Loans Company and US Loans whilst being responsible for fee setting and record maintenance.

Other areas covered by the Student Lifecycle team are enrolment, examinations, certificates, verifications, and graduation.


This role will suit an experienced administrator ideally with experience of fees and funding processes in the Higher Education Sector.

You will report into the Fees and Funding Team Leader and will be responsible for providing high quality, efficient and effective support for all aspects of student fees and funding at BCU.

You will ensure that we fulfil external regulatory and statutory requirements and follow policy and regulations, being an expert advisor on fees and funding related issues.


In line with the academic calendar, the Fees and Funding Coordinator will:

  • Contribute to the delivery of the responsibilities of the team based on an annual calendar of activity, delivering services in line with policy and procedures.
  • Under the direction of the Fees and Funding Team Leader, support activities that ensure the compliance and statutory of the University's obligations towards funding bodies.
  • Contribute to projects that deliver improvements to business processes, ensuring these are efficient, effective and support a rightfirsttime approach to data quality.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the wider team and across the Directorate. Ensuring all business processes and standard operating procedures are documented and regularly reviewed, underpinned by the use of technology and system enhancements.
  • Provide a highquality customerserviceoriented first
- and second-line support service for student and staff enquiries and advice relating to fees and funding.

  • Proactively resolve issues and enquiries raised by users, escalating these as required.
  • Act as a conduit for sharing and promoting good practice in the use of the student systems and provide systems training for University colleagues as appropriate.
  • Ensuring SITS system is up to date with accurate information pertaining to student fees and funding data and information.
  • Liaise with external agencies to support management of fees and funding returns, information requests, student record updates.
  • Maintain knowledge of the work done by others and assist/provide cover for them where necessary.

Skills and Experience:


  • Educated to first degree level or able to demonstrate a combination of professional qualifications, skills, and experience at an equivalent level.
  • Previous experience in a relevant role ideally in HE which demonstrates knowledge of fees and/or funding.
  • IT skills, very good standard of Microsoft Office with experience of using a student records system (ideally SITS) and external funding systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to handle complex queries to resolution.
  • Must have experience of working in a customer service/focussed role and have provided a high level of service to a variety of customers.
  • Experience of process improvement and quality enhancement.
