Job description:

The Child Maintenance Service (CMS) is responsible for all aspects of child maintenance in Great Britain.

Our role is to promote financial responsibility, and to encourage and support private maintenance arrangements, as well as provide a statutory maintenance service.


This is a Grade 6 Senior Leadership position, providing strategic leadership within Applications & Maintenance to drive delivery of key operational objectives, along with planning and leading our Directorate Continuous Improvement and Quality strategy.

You will have an important role to play in transforming and modernising our service.


You will lead a team of over 700 colleagues in a complex, fast paced operational environment across 3 Service Centres, Birkenhead, Newcastle, and Falkirk, with responsibility for collaboration with our Belfast delivery service.


You will lead through a period of accelerated change for the organisation - enabling a transformation programme that delivers increased efficiency and service improvements, and supporting the design and implementation of a new organisational model.


You will demonstrate visible leadership through a commitment to people engagement and empowering others to develop, they will be required to continue establishing a culture of continuous improvement through remote line management across multiple sites.


You will provide inspirational and resourceful leadership to make a strong personal impact and drive delivery against key performance measures timeously and accurately.


You will be an influential member of the CMG Operational Leadership Team with a crucial role in helping to shape the strategic direction (CMG Story) and drive transformational change, including leading on key aspects of the Applications and Maintenance strategy.

You may also be required to lead one of our Service Centres in a sponsorship role.
