Accounts Assistant
Castle Eden Property Management is a small Property Management Company, set up in 2016. We are currently expanding and require an Accounts Assistant to support the finance team.

As a key part of the team you will provide a comprehensive and professional service charge accounting function to Castle Eden Property Management Ltd.


Purpose of role:

You will be support the day-to-day management of financial service charge budgets for residential block managed properties.

Working closely with the finance team and the property managers you will provide reporting, data analysis and query resolution across a range of residential properties portfolios.


You will:
- support the accounting function including updating core financial systems, bank reconciliations, purchase, and sales ledger
- review and maintain integrity of data held on the internal systems
- provide financial information as required including budget reports and income and expenditure statements
- deal with day-to-day queries from clients and Property Managers
- provide detailed breakdown of expenditure items
- support budget holders to set annual service charge budgets, including providing historic costs, ensuring templates balance and are accurate with costs split correctly between leaseholders
- process any agreed instructions such as adjustments when required
- produce draft annual service charge accounts for submission to the external accountant including calculation of year end journals e.g. accruals and prepayments
- quarterly variance analysis of service charge income and expenditure by scheme to ensure costs are allocated correctly with corrective action taken and escalation of issues as appropriate
- prepare routine journals to ensure the service charge accounts accurately report income and expenditure and the balance sheet accurately reports assets and liabilities for each period
- support the Property manager by providing information for client review meetings
- calculate and update all service charge working papers and produce specified balance sheet account reconciliations on a quarterly basis and ensure any discrepancies are corrected
- keep up to date on all relevant service charge legislation affecting financial statements

  • Any other duties that will ensure the smooth running of the department, as defined by the Directors

Qualifications and Experience

  • AAT level 3 or 4 or studying towards an Accounting Qualification is preferred
  • A-C in Maths and English G.C.S.E. (or equivalent) preferred
  • Organised and have attention to detail
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • IT and software skills, particularly Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and to adhere to deadlines
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the RICS Service Charge Code of Practice (Desirable)
