Assessment centres for this vacancy will be run on 26 February 2024 so please ensure you are provisionally available to attend.**As an Apprentice in the Cyber Security team, you will study towards a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship through the University of Gloucestershire.

You will begin the qualification whilst on the apprenticeship programme, and then study for a further two years after to complete your degree.


Over the course of the 3 years of study, you will be exposed to all teams within Cyber Security which include Security Assurance, Supply Assurance, Security Engineering, Security Architecture and more.

This gives you the brilliant opportunity to understand what element of Cyber Security you enjoy most and where you may like to specialise.


What you'll be doing:


The Cyber Security Team at SJP is a small team of 8, responsible for protecting the reputation and resilience of St.

James's Place, to prevent significant malicious disruption to our business objectives and to ensure we remain within our security and resilience risk appetite whilst we move to become more digital.


The team ensures SJP can operate as a business by making systems secure, building relationships internally and with 3rd parties, maturing influence within SJP, feeding what we see and what we experience up to the Board and helping the direction that SJP takes to ensure clients information is kept safe.

Working in the Cyber Security team is challenging but rewarding.

Typical day to day responsibilities may include:

  • Gain a basic understanding of Cyber Security.
  • Take responsibility for running and presenting on reports (ie vulnerability management scans).
  • Liaising with business areas to rectify vulnerabilities.
  • Managing incidents.
  • Collecting data to support security testing activities, working with other technology teams to gather the information.
  • Assessing threat intelligence reports and making recommendations.

Who we're looking for:


We are looking for someone with an interest of basic knowledge of cyber security, who is willing to learn and progress within the profession and undertake the degree-level qualification.

  • Selfmotivated and interested in learning and taking on a challenge.

Special requirements:
Please be aware that this position is a Certification role under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime.
