Carers First is a leading charity working directly with and for thousands of carers, providing personalised information and tailored support in the way that suits them - online, on the phone or face-to-face in their local community.

We deliver services across Lincolnshire, Essex, Medway and four London boroughs.

The charity was first established in Tonbridge in 1991 by carers who wanted to help others in a similar situation.

Last year Carers First reached over 119,000 carers, making it easier for those caring for someone else to find balance and to live their lives to the fullest.

  • We are two years into an ambitious threeyear strategy which builds upon our successful past and enables us to reach and support significantly more carers, deliver new services and programmes in codesign, forge new collaborations to increase our impact and to grow and diversify the funding base of the charity. With a new mission and ambition, refreshed branding and several new programmes of support, we have gone through substantial change over the last couple of years.

This is an exciting time of development and growth and following a recent governance review, the board are looking to introduce three new trustees to diversify and strengthen our profile.

We truly value the contribution and that carers can bring to the board, so are particularly committed to ensuring that we introduce trustees with lived experience from a carer perspective.

In addition, we are consciously recruiting trustees who add to the board's diversity profile to ensure that we are more reflective of the communities that we serve.
