The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a
Stores Supervisor to work with our prestigious water company based in Preston.

Reporting to the Yard/Stores Manager you will provide an invaluable service to the team by:

Your main duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Serving as a key holder, responsible for opening up and locking the premises, maintaining security protocols, and safeguarding company assets.
  • Offload and accept deliveries from supply chain.
  • Checking of all deliveries against original order placed and receipted goods advising purchasing of any discrepancies.
  • Notify personnel responsible for delegated order.
  • Storage of goods within stores area to a preallocated location.
  • Management of goods outward area ensuring required materials are picked and allocated to the relevant area in time of predetermined dates.
  • Ensure stores is kept clean and all isle and exits are kept clear at all times.
  • Ensure procedures are followed, maintained and reviewed accordingly.
  • Report to Yard Manager / Procurement team for updates on orders due in on a daily basis.
  • Assist with the management of yard stock / surplus stock that is returned from site to ensure stock wastage is kept to a minimum.
  • Management of key plant register ensuring all plant is documented, within date of test certificates, liaising with plant department when retesting is required and booking in & out when plant is taken out on site to be utilised.
  • The role consists of Manual lifting but use of pallet trucks and trolleys to be used to reduce the amount.
  • Identify redundant stock within stores and dispose of to make room for live orders.

About you
Aligned to our ethos and values, you will have warehouse or stores experience at a supervisor level.

Ideally you will have good knowledge in Water/Wastewater schemes or in a similar industry, this is not essential but preferable that experience is within this element.

It goes without saying, you will have excellent communication skills both oral and written, be accurate with a strong focus on attention to detail and thrive in a busy / challenging environment.


  • Previous warehouse / stores experience essential with any relevant qualification (NVQ etc.) an advantage
  • Good organisational skills essential to effectively implement required processes & procedures.
  • Good communicational skills.
  • Knowledge of the water / construction industries would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Selfmotivated and able to work with both office personnel and onsite teams.
  • Health & Safety legislation awareness.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook & Excel essential.
  • Working knowledge of Evision (stock ordering system) would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Good house keeping.
