We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled individual to work as the Pathology Training coordinator across North West Anglia Pathology Services.


The Training coordinator will lead the Pathology team to design and implement and deliver and innovative and creative training programme for all non medical staff.


This will include managing the development of an appropriately trained and skilled Healthcare Science, Mortuary and Bereavement, Phlebotomy and Administrative workforce, thereby ensuring the provision of high quality Pathology services.

The role will support the education, training and leadership development of all non-medical Pathology staff, including Administration and Clerical, Anatomical Pathology Technicians, Assistant and Associate Practitioners, Healthcare Scientists (e.g. Biomedical Scientists) and Phlebotomists.

The post holder will be required to continue to develop and enhance the 'grow our own' ethos and training infrastructure within the department.

This role will cover multiple areas of Pathology Services including:
Blood Sciences HH

Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology & Transfusion and Immunology PCH

Cellular Pathology (inc. Mortuary and Bereavement)

Microbiology

Specimen Reception and Phlebotomy

Point of Care Testing (POCT team only)

The post holder will assist in providing interpretation of national and local developments in healthcare science education and training to other healthcare professionals and stakeholders, to enable a clear strategic direction for training within the department.


The post holder will work directly with the Pathology Training Lead to take responsibility within Pathology for developing staff to meet the needs of a modernised Pathology service and to support national and local Healthcare strategies.

This role with be responsible for the co-ordination of a pan-Trust training programme for the professional development of all non-medical staff groups (inc. competencies, professional qualifications, mandatory training and CPD). The post holder will also be the Training Officer for Phlebotomy, Specimen reception and POCT to take day to day responsibility for training needs (e.g. competency programmes, IBMS portfolio programmes etc.). They will also be require to support where practicable the discipline specific Training Officers.
