The Role


The main objective of the role is to ensure the Company is compliant with all Indirect taxation regulatory requirements across EMEA and Canada (13 registrations).


The role will work closely with the London based shared service accounting group (G.A.S) and will assist in preparation, submission and payment of the UK and European VAT, Canadian Indirect Tax Returns, EC Sales and Intrastat returns accurately and on time.


Your Impact:


  • Prepare and submit EMEA subsidiary VAT /EC Sales / Intrastat returns. Liaise with GAS, AP, AR teams and external advisors EY / local accounting firms.
  • Prepare and submit Canadian subsidiary Indirect Tax Returns. Liaise with GAS, AP, AR teams and external advisors Ryan / local accounting firms.
  • Prepare and submit ecommerce distance selling VAT returns for c30 countries by working with external advisors, Taxback International.
  • Liaising with Taxback and VATIT as well as monitoring their performance
  • Review and supervise the coding of invoices by AP answering queries and identifying errors which lead to more accurate posting of invoices
  • Assist Director Global Indirect Tax in the optimization and streamlining of the Indirect Tax processes (including payments) and reporting across the EMEA.
  • AssistDirector Global Indirect Tax with various Indirect Tax projects:
  • Making Tax Digital UK initiative and roll out the solution to EMEA
  • Improvement of current Indirect Tax processes and reporting in Oracle, Excel and possible Indirect Tax software implementation and Testing.
  • Design Tax Governance Policies and training material for employees.
  • Support new employees onboarding process.
  • Support the preparation of responses to Tax Audits.
  • Implementation of internal tax controls.
  • Prepare VAT return journals (monthly clearing of the VAT accounts) and monitoring VAT and GST accounts
  • Reconcile VAT GL balance sheet accounts with related VAT returns

We would Love to Hear from People with:

  • Some experience working within finance department, ideally Shared Service Centre
  • Experience working with VAT would be beneficial
  • Strong Excel/IT skills
  • Analyzing Information, Data Entry Skills, Accountancy Skills, Reporting Skills, Organization, Power B.I.
  • Exposure to working with OneSource, Oracle is beneficial, but not essential
  • Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present information and respond to questions from management, clients, and other employees of the organization
