Job Description - Extrusion Operative

Job Title:
Extrusion Production Operative


Reports To:
Extrusion Production Team Leader


Job Purpose
To work as part of a team in completion of site extrusions meeting agreed budgets and deadlines.


Duties and Responsibilities - Production

  • Production, packaging and testing of extruded items.
  • Setting up, starting and shutting down of extrusion lines.
  • Problem solving and monitoring of extrusion process.
  • Receipt and processing of raw material.
  • Stock counts and verification.
  • Record accurate production figures and booking on of finished product.
  • Fork truck operation.
  • Any other work as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities - Quality

  • Ensure that any quality none conformance is identified and reported.
  • Ensure hourly inspections of departmental production, record the findings, take remedial action when required and ensure that only acceptable product is labelled and packaged for despatch.
  • Ensure ownership and accountability for the quality of output.

Training

  • Training in all aspects of the extrusion department will be given.

  • Ensure that all safety equipment is used and maintained in the correct way and any issues reported to the Technical & Quality Manager.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the department.
  • The workplace must be kept neat and tidy at all times and all waste material or product dealt with, as directed, in a prompt manner.
  • Ensure commitment to and compliance with Company TPM and 5S practices.

Discipline

  • Ensure that you are aware of and comply with all Company regulations, as contained in the Employee Handbook, Work Instructions and other control documentation.
  • Maintain acceptable standards of behaviour, attendance, timekeeping, etc., as detailed in the Employee Handbook and other control documentation.

Communications

  • Ensure that communications are maintained at the highest possible level, keeping the management team informed of impending situations which could develop into more serious problems.
  • Comply with the Company's Team Briefing process.

General

  • Ensure compliance with the company's Equal Opportunity Policy.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with your training and experience.
  • The Administrator may, from time to time, be required to carry out other duties, as directed by the Department Manager.


Please note that this list is not exhaustive and you may be required by your Line Manager to take on additional responsibilities/ad hoc duties as and when required.
