The role of the Security Assurance Lead, is to engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Security Standards are being achieved, and that we continue to prioritise balance Compliance in our journey to Protect, Serve and Grow.

The role is operationally focused with continuous improvement always at the top of the agenda - there is also a significant amount of project and programme activity to support the wider function, and to support the integration of Regulation into operational practice.


  • Being able to support and offer guidance to the wider business and third parties on the role of the Regulator, and the consequence of noncompliance on Heathrow's reputation and potential impacts
  • Identify security vulnerabilities working with the Intelligence team on threat assessment, worldwide events and performance challenges, and balance each of these with coordinated and robust mitigation plans. Advising the Security Function on day to day issues and the wider business on longer term strategic plans
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all key stakeholders; Regulator (CAA and DfT), Airlines, Security Leadership Team and Trade Union representatives. Also, third party providers of Security at Heathrow
  • Promote a 'can do' attitude around changes within Security. Shaping new processes, and interrogating new technology from an initial plan through to implementation; whilst ensuring compliance is never compromised, and our protection mindset is at the forefront of decision making
  • Systematically drive improvements, standardisation and consistency in day to day procedures, across Heathrow Security
  • Strong knowledge of a regulated environment in Security Aviation
  • Successful track record of delivering change
  • Ability to attain & retain an Airside Pass plus a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Successful operator in a multistakeholder environment and ability to operate in a multisite role
  • Experience of working at pace in either project based or operational roles
  • Aviation security experience is essential for this role
  • Degree or degree calibre
