Paralegal - Real Estate Team

Duties

  • To attend to clients both on the telephone and in person. To take and record accurately any messages and pass the same to the appropriate person without delay.
  • Through the Firm's Case Management system, prepare relevant documents, deeds and Land searches.
  • Deal with any post completion issue which may arise on a sale (contacting Land Registry to remove charges, post completion issues and managing agents on leasehold properties).
  • Submit all registrations within priority period.
  • Deal with all requisitions raised by Land Registry and all post completions queries which may arise regarding a purchase.
  • Once registration is complete, ensure ledger is clear and sift file for all documents to go out to lender/client, etc.
  • Arrange submission of the Stamp Duty Land Tax return with HMRC and registration at Land Registry within search priority periods.
  • Deal with requisitions from the Land Registry under supervision of the feeearner.
  • Pass files to scheduling and assist when necessary.
  • Ensure discharges received where necessary and any undertakings are discharged.
  • Assist with retention releases and letters to clients which are required for compliance.
  • To deal accurately with filing and archiving, storage and retrieval of client files in line with the Team's filing system.
  • To draft straightforward documents when requested by a fee earner as far as the support assistant is able to do so.
  • To set up new files accurately and speedily on instructions from fee earner.
  • To make appointments, deal with new clients and assist in keeping the fee earners diaries up to date.
  • To assist with the handling of postage and other administrative tasks necessary for production of the work of the Commercial Team.
  • To ensure the confidentiality and security of all Firm and client's documentation and/or information.
  • To undertake any specific training or refresher course as and when required
  • To undertake any other duties which from time to time may be allocated and to assist other teams when necessary.
All staff are expected to be computer literate and become familiar with our case management system.

Experience in a property based role would be preferable.
