A Technical Writer is responsible for producing accurate and well-written software manuals and documentation.

Developers understand their software at a deep and technical level - a technical writer communicates the developers' understanding in a way that helps end-users become productive quickly and efficiently.


Responsibilities

  • Research software functionality and then write and maintain (edit) help files and other enduser documentation for both new and existing products.
  • Assist in the creation and maintaining of end user training materials.
  • Create and edit technical documentation for posting on the CAMBRIO knowledge base (user facing, selfhelp portal and training).
  • Ensure technical documentation complies with company branding and expectations for quality, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Use technical writing software to create and maintain documentation.
  • Provide input to developers on usability and report defects as they are encountered.
  • Help train and support those translating enduser materials into languages other than English.
  • Assist in user interface design and wording to improve usability.

Requirements:


  • Some professional technical writing experience.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to identify the information needs of the target audiences and develop appropriate content using existing styles and templates.
  • Attentive to detail, good timemanagement skills, ability to work independently to completion on assigned projects.
  • Proficiency with desktop publishing tools.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Proven abilities in publication layout.
  • Associates degree in related field or equivalent.

Desirable but not Required

  • Knowledge of Cimatron, or other CAD/CAM software.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
