Applications are invited for the Consultant in Cardiologist post. This post is within the Cardiology Department/Specialist medicine care group of the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.


We are currently a team of 12 substantive Cardiologists, and 2 NHS Fixed Term Locums (covering Maternity Leave and vacancy).We aim to employ 3 further substantive Cardiologists to take us to 15 substantive Consultants delivering the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Cardiology service.

This post is principally designed to support delivery of both emergency and elective PCI. The post holder should have advanced training in PCI.

A programme of local PCI commenced in September 2001, and now all elective and inpatient PCI is performed on site.

We have a successful complex PCI program including rotablations and CTO PCI and a 24/7 primary PCI service has run from January 2011.


One catheter lab has recently undergone complete refurbishment and the second lab is due to undergo refurbishment during the next few years.
