Are you an organised, motivated and driven individual, looking to develop your skills in a new role? We may have the ideal job An exciting opportunity has arisen to join AIR-Support Safety Team, working closely with customers (all Military ranks and Civil Servants) both internally and externally.
The AIR-Support Area of Responsibility is diverse and large covering the Engineering, Logistics, Health, Infrastructure, Transformation and Fire & Rescue aspects of RAF functions.
On behalf of Chief of Staff Support (COS Spt), the Safety Team conducts the safety management activity required of the AIR-Support Total Safety & Environmental Management System (SEMS).
The AIR-Support Safety Team form part of the wider Airworthiness Policy, Quality Management & Command External Quality Audit Team and the Inspector Airworthiness Team.
You will also assist these teams with any Safety related and adhoc/business support tasks, as agreed by your Line Manager, when availability allows.
As part of the Team, completing various courses, you will learn and develop your skills to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME), setting HQ level policy and objectives, dealing with safety risks and hazards, providing safety assurance and promoting safety.
There will be occasional travel to other Stations, where you will contribute to meetings and conduct assurance. This may involve overnight stays. Any travel costs will be reimbursed.This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description:
Cover the responsibilities of the Safety Manager during temporary periods of absence.
Maintain awareness of any developments in all safety management legislation, regulation, and policy, to ensure the delivery of mentorship on safety management to personnel from the AIR-Support AOR.
Assist in managing any Safety Assurance. Co-ordinating 1st Party Assurance (1PA) on the AIR-Support Safety Management System. Delivery of 2nd Party Assurance (2PA) on AIR-Support Subordinate units' Safety Management Systems. Coordinating 3rd Party Assurance (3PA) with external assurance.Manage Safety Training & Promotion.
You will be responsible for a yearly safety communications plan, to actively promote Safety management through the use of various medium and the BE Safe Newsletter.
Leading a safety awards and recognition process and co-ordinate Air Safety Training courses and matrix.
In addition, the post holder will conduct Health & Safety Rep duties, including attend H&S meetings delivered by RAF HWY SSHEA and ensuring the H&S notice board in HQ is updated regularly.
Notwithstanding your specific areas of responsibility, when capacity allows and as directed by line manager perform safety and administrative support function duties to the other teams within the Inspector Airworthiness wider functional areas.
Person specification:
Essential Skills:
- Must be a good communicator in both written and oral mediums to engage with customers and disseminate information across the business, which is key to this role.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience/Knowledge of Air Safety management, policy & regulations, Risk Management and Assurance activity.
- Experience in coordinating contracts and financial returns (required for delivery of Safety training under contract through the Military Aviation Authority, MAA).
Full training will be given in all aspects of the role, alongside an Induction package for anyone new to Air Command and AIR-Support.
