Role Purpose


To support the work of the GBS Academic Standards and Quality Office in helping to ensure that the policies and procedures of awarding bodies (Pearson, partner universities/colleges) and, as appropriate, GBS policies and procedures are fully and consistently implemented across all GBS campuses and programmes of study.

To support academic and professional services staff with the production of high-quality reports required for both internal and external audiences.

To support Programme Administrators with the Student Representative system at GBS and associated committees. To act as secretary, as required, to GBS boards and committees.


Main Responsibilities:


Roles and Responsibilities

  • To ensure that GBS policies and procedures consistently implemented and monitored across all higher education provision and GBS campuses in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester.
  • To help ensure that the policies, procedures and systems of partner awarding bodies and colleges are fully and consistently implemented across programmes delivered by GBS.
  • To work with and complete tasks set by the Quality Manager responsible for GBS Pearson programmes.
  • To work with and complete tasks set by the Quality Manager with lead responsibility for GBS degree awarding powers.
  • To contribute to the maintenance, review and updating of GBS quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • To write quality monitoring and quality enhancements reports, as required.
  • To ensure quality assurance and enhancement at GBS supports a cycle of continuous improvement, leading the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of enhancements.
  • To coordinate and undertake internal quality audit tasks as appropriate to the needs of the GBS and demands of awarding bodies/partner organisations.
  • To support GBS's complaints and academic appeals processes, ensuring timely responses and satisfactory outcomes.
  • To act as secretary, as required, to some GBS boards and committees.
  • Take on special projects as required and related to the role of Quality Officer.
  • To write high quality reports using quantitative and qualitative data for internal and external audiences, as required.
  • To work efficiently, accurately and with attention to detail

  • The Quality Officer formally reports to the Academic Standards and Quality Director and will be allocated tasks and responsibilities by the Academic and Quality Director and Quality Managers.
  • Liaises with Deans, Associate Dean(s), Programme Administrators, Programme Leaders, teaching staff and professional services staff, as appropriate, and under the guidance of Quality Managers

Requirements:


Essential Attributes

  • Excellent written skills with experience of report writing
  • Ability to compile, analyse and evaluate qualitative and quantitative data to incorporate into reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work to challenging deadlines and deliver set objectives
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Willing to travel to GBS campuses, as appropriate.
