Stewardship is one of the most powerful mechanisms by which investors and their agents can contribute to the achievement of the PRI's mission: the creation of a sustainable financial system which benefits the environment and society as a whole.

The role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to work that will encourage and enable PRI signatories to fully realise the potential of stewardship to drive real-world outcomes on topics that are part of the broader human rights agenda.


This role will primarily support the PRI's stewardship activities on human rights and social issues, with a particular focus on Advance.

This is an investor initiative that acts as a platform encompassing a broad range of social issues, and that seeks to allow investors to prioritise the most severe human rights risks and outcomes within their stewardship activities.


Core Responsibilities:


  • Act as a coordinator of the PRI collaborative stewardship initiative on human rights and social issues global investors working group
  • Coordinate engagement groups across the mining sector
  • Convene and facilitate regular engagement group meetings/calls to track the progress of engagements, discuss issues and share information.
  • Manage and/or contribute to other initiativewide projects (as needed), such as sector work/research, signatory accountability, webinars, progress report, etc.
  • Work to identify and implement improvements to PRI coordination of collaborative engagement processes, including shareholder resolutions and the role of proxy voting.
  • Conduct and/or disseminate relevant company/sector research, guidance, and other analysis for investors to use in company engagements both within and beyond the PRI collaborative stewardship initiative on human rights and social issues
  • Work closely with other PRI engagement staff to ensure that various initiatives (both inside and outside of Advance) are aligned and coordinated.
  • Build relationships with investors to maintain and expand expertise of engagement practices, best practices and needs.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders in the business and human rights space to inform investors' expectations and create channels of communication between the investor group and relevant stakeholders, including rightholders
  • Speak publicly at events, both digital and in person, on the PRI collaborative stewardship initiative on human rights and social issues, on stewardship and the PRI's work more generally.

Person Specification:


  • Excellent networking, influencing and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong and constructive relationships in different circumstances (remote/inperson or internal/external) with a clear understanding of what drives people and how to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Strong public speaking skills with ability to give presentations and lead meetings with senior stakeholders
  • Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills. Identifies trends (and risks) and solves problems in a structured and rigorous way with a view of implementing improvements
  • Good project management skills
