JOB TITLE:
Head of Dispensing (inc IPC and HSE)

REPORTS TO:
PARTNERS (CLINICALLY) Managing Partner

Job summary:

To ensure the provision of quick, efficient, and accurate dispensing of medication to the patients of The Orchard Partnership, and to ensure effective financial control of the dispensary.

To post holder will also offer strong leadership skills in business, health and safety and infection control. The post holder will support the Managing Partner and members of the management team ensure the smooth running of the Partnership

Key tasks:

Manage the dispensary staff
Attendance at, and input to, Partners' meetings as appropriate
Monthly checking of the drug tariff for price and category changes, checking "MIMS" for new or discontinued drugs, and following up changes with drug company representatives where necessary
Liaise with the Primary Care Network (PCN) Medicines Optimisation Team and Integrated Care Board (ICB) medicines management team
Sorting prescriptions, checking endorsements, preparing forms and submitting prescriptions monthly to the NHS Prescription Services; preparing vaccine list; dealing with prescriptions returned by the NHS Prescription Services
Organise monthly Dispensary Meetings
DSQS coordination and submission
Organise and oversee monthly CD audits at all sites
Quality assurance of all Standard Operating Procedures and Dispensary Protocols including uploading onto teamnet ensuring all staff are informed and appropriately trained
Quality assurance of all Health and Safety and Infection control policies and procedures including uploading onto teamnet ensuring all staff are informed and appropriately trained
Liaise with the cleaning company with regards to NHSE cleaning standards and periodic checks and day to day management
