Key Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to develop, implement and maintain existing Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) management systems to ensure it is fit for purpose now and in the future.

The role will report to the Head of Facilities & Asset Management within the Resources and Investment Directorate and will work alongside the SYMCA Light Rail Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Officer.

You will contribute to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of SYMCA's employees and all others affected by its undertaking at all of its sites, and assist in fulfilling SYMCA's general health and safety duties both as an employer, and as regards premises it controls as set out in the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

We are seeking someone who has the skills to lead, train, instruct, support and audit the work of others to ensure that required standards are in place and maintained appropriately on behalf of SYMCA, and has substantial experience in a similar health and safety/QHSE advisory role at all levels of seniority, external agencies and other forums.

A part of the role will involve traveling to all of SYMCA's premises in the South Yorkshire area on a regular basis to carry out QHSE duties, therefore someone who enjoys being out and about is essential
